Staying (Relatively) Sane in Uncertain Times

To use a well-worn cliché – we are most definitely living in unprecedented times. Uncertain times and times that will test us all, and hopefully we’ll emerge at the end of it ready to take on the world. But until then, it’s sometimes hard to keep your head straight, so we’ve lined up a few ways you can take back some control when it feels like you’re losing it at every step.

Tip #1: Get Dressed Every Morning

This is key to establishing a new routine – it won’t look like your old routine, but it will definitely help. Set your alarm at a reasonable time (because believe us, the day will come when you’re out the door by 8:30am) and take the time to shower and put on something that makes you feel good. Stay chic for impromptu video calls, but ensure that you feel comfortable and relaxed. If lipstick brightens your day then slick some on – just because you’re not heading out into the world doesn’t mean you have to completely downgrade your usual routine.

Tip #2: Embrace Sleep

A good night’s sleep is crucial during these difficult times. Turn off your phone within 60 minutes of your head hitting the pillow and pick up that book you’ve been meaning to read. Add your favourite pillow spray or a few drops of lavender oil and slip into those crisp, clean sheets. And yes we mean crisp and clean – make your bed every morning and come night time, you’ll feel better for it.

Tip #3: Allow Yourself Time to Grieve

Yes, we said grieve. We’re feeling a number of different ‘griefs’ right now and are acutely aware of how much the world has changed. We know this is temporary, but it doesn’t feel that way, and we realize things will be different. The loss of normalcy; the fear of economic meltdown; the loss of connection. This is hitting us and we’re grieving. Collectively. So be kind – to yourself and to others.

Tip #4: Exercise daily

This can be as simple as taking a walk in the morning and evening or as challenging as creating a whole new exercise programme from the amazing offerings online at the moment. Many are free and local, and allow you to choose exactly how hard – or gentle – you want to go on yourself. If you’re exercising in your local park make sure to still practice good social distancing, and please do NOT let your high fives connect!

Tip #5: Embrace Clean Beauty

Now is the perfect opportunity to reset your beauty routine, remove anything that’s not serving you and embrace a cleaner, leaner approach. You’ll have plenty of time to research what key ingredients do and don’t serve you best, and start wish list of your ultimate clean beauty routine. Here’s where we can help too – have a look around the site and feel free to ask us any questions about what is on offer and what will work best for you.
